Noise?

Noise?

Postby Ree-O » January 5th, 2015, 4:43 pm

Hello,
I just got the Silver Bullet for Christmas.
Is it normal for it to have an irritating, quite loud buzzing noise when idle?

Thank you!!!

It makes a relatively quiet high pitched noise when idle - not what I would consider loud......

My Cougar was very noisy when it was sitting idle, so much so that I had to turn it off if I wasn't going to be cutting anything for awhile. However, when I upgraded to my Silver Bullet, I have to look to see if it is turned on because it is so quiet. Not sure what causes the noise, or if it can be fixed, but other than being irritating, it didn't interfere with the use of the machine.

No, it doesn't interfere with the use. Just the user! :D
I LOVE my Silver Bullet.

Gigi: I didn't mean to sound like it was bad...just wondering if it was normal.

Thanks Diane for responding. Very true - this one is much quieter than the Cougar was - I had forgotten that!

No worries Sheree - there are loud noises the machine "can" make when something is wrong, so I guess I was trying to be sure that it was a "normal" whine vs. something wrong!

:D LOL - I think it depends on the machine. Some used to think the Cougars "purred". I still have my Cougar and it has never been what I would say was "very noisy" - matter of fact - sometimes I have found that I have left it on because I forgot to turn it off when I left the room when I last used it! So clearly, its not very noisy (or I have learned to tune it out! ;) ) It does sometimes make more "noise" then at other times - just like us I guess! :)

My machine will occasionally make a high pitched hum when it's been on for a long time or working a lot. It doesn't seem annoying to me and it comes and goes. Guess I am used to it, but it doesn't seem loud to me. As long as it is not clanging, you are good to go!
