I saw a blog where someone took a book and made the faux leather covers
http://astridsartisticefforts.blogspot.com/ (see the feb 22 entry) and I wanted to give it a try. I looked up the Sheena Douglass youtube video on how to do faux leather and found a cheap composition book and gave it a go. The composition book is larger than any embossing folder I have so I took my patchwork folder from Tim Holtz and did my own patchwork. The project is easy but the drying time is what is so time consuming. I put several coats of ModPodge. It is still drying but I couldn't wait to share photo, hence some white spots that are still drying. LOL. I took chipboard and cut out the clock, fleur do lis and key. Then I took a Spare Parts label holder and put a newsprint label, did a "notes" on Word, and then glossy accents. I made the cover so that when I am finished with this notebook, I can cut the covers off and it can be cut down to a 8.5 x 5.5 size and I can use it again and Cinch it.
