Etched Glasses, Baby Tee Shirts, Vinyl Decals.

Postby Gramof8 » June 19th, 2012, 7:21 pm

This is my third try at posting, they say it is a charm so lets see . I have not been here for awhile. Been busy with real paying customers. Yes, they are paying me for things I love to create. Here are some things I finished last week for them. I also have orders from three softball teams for car decals. I began using glitter vinyl and the Mom's really like them. Thanks Gram Miss you all!!

I am new to my SB and currently just cut vinyl. I feel silly for asking, but how do you etch on glass? I need to get the gotta have it all kit, but just don't understand how to fit the item in there to etch.....

You cut a vinyl stencil apply it to the glass and then some use a cream and others use a blast cabinet.

Etching on glass with the engraving tool will wear it down really fast - that's why most who etch on glass either use the engraving tool and etch on a heavy plastic which looks like glass - or a mirrored plastic which also looks like mirrored glass - or you can use vinyl to create the pattern and then use the etching cream to apply, let it dry and then the etching remains.

There are probably videos if you google YouTube, but I am not sure. I know there are examples of both in the Masterpiece section and also in the individual photo albums. Which did you want to see?? And what are you hoping to see in a video so I can figure out how best to help?

Thank you, Gigi for your usual patience to explain the process. I think the etching cream is my new love :-)

I found a short video on the process. It is oh so very quick and the results are amazing! Now, how am I going to explain to my husband that I need more glasses and etching cream? :-)

Glad to see you post - was concerned about you given the huge outbreak in NY.

Isn't etching cream fun?? I love it when I do it - then I forget about it!! There are so many fun things you can do!
