Last night, we covered a few basics in the webinar dealing with inkscape, but I didn't feel it was very organized or adequately presented. With that in mind, here are a few places that you can go to learn inkscape. Of course we will have more webinars dealing with it, but for the time being, I hope these help! (I am using many of these too, right along with you all!)
1)http://screencasters.heathenx.org/ has some wonderful videos on how to use inkscape in general. There is a link called "microsodes" that have a lot of the basics in explaining the basic tools involved in inkscape and they seem very good. They are organized and don't seem to be too dry. On their main page, they have screencasts of how to apply the tools in projects. They are doing it for the general graphic artist, so not everything will apply to cutting (such as gradients). But there is a lot that will apply and the more you know about the program in general, the more powerful a tool it will become for you.
2) There are tutorials on both the main Black Cat Forum and Sherri's http://thatsscrapinc.com store that links to http://learndigitaldesign.com/index.php, which has some more videos.
3) Bryan did a webinar on MTC a year ago, also explaining the tools (that is where I got the link for screencasters.heathenx.org).
4) Inkscape has their own user written interactive tutorials that can be accessed by going to Help>Tutorials from within inkscape.
5) There will be more inkscape in webinars here in the future!
I hope that helps get some people started!
