Challenge 6- Penny Duncan Flower Challenge

Re: Challenge 6- Penny Duncan Flower Challenge

Wow - Gorgeous flowers Penny!

After much battling with glue here are my efforts:

I didn't have the right materials so the flower on the left has the stamen dipped in sand and the one on the right has the tip of each stamen spike glued inside a seed bead. The sand was definitely the quicker option! I can't find my florist tape so the stems are just green for the moment.

Hope I did your file justice Penny

Lucy x

Way to go Lucy! I've got the glass beads but they are clear so I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do for my stamens too.

Okay. SCORE!! I found my gold glass beads.

2nd. I can NOT get the centers to cut out without tearing all to pieces. I am using a SU cardstock and have my Lynx set at V=150 F=120 Blade=4. I tried F=85, 95, 110 and am now at 120. On the long cuts, it very clearly is cutting through on the ends or points is where I'm not getting clean cuts. Advice?

Going to try changing to a CM paper V=100, F=115, Blade=3.

I have a 13" cougar and I had some problems too at the ends. I tried slowing down the machine, that didn't work so I upped the velocity to 250 lol and it did so much better and my force was around 85 too.

Not sure if it will help....but I use a 110# cream colored cardstock I get from the office supply store velocity of 250 and force of 45

Sounds like I just need to cut faster. Well, I made do with what I could cut and I'm almost ready to post photos of mine.

Generally you will get cleaner cuts with a slower speed, but if faster works for you - go for it

Maybe I'm just lucky but I cut most of my things at 250 and I get great results........

Then keep on cutting at that speed, what ever works best for you is correct

This is my attempt. I think I needed more glue on the stamens. I did not have the correct beads, so I used clear and added some yellow glitter.

Okay, here's my take on Penny's flowers. I added a little bit of pink ink edges on the petals. And I used Tim Holtz Perfect Pearls in a mister but that doesn't show up on camera.
