Beanie - I hope I interpreted the challenge right - I took it to mean bringing an element of nature and putting it on a card insofar as cards go (outside in). I did not "enclose" my outside element - so I am not even sure if this qualifies, as I did my challenge without looking at other people's. I am not a scrapbooker, so I did the 4 cards one. Another cavet: the butterfly was actually cut a couple of days ahead of the crop. I decided on the rainbow (and the card was put together and the rainbow was cut during the crop), as I learned last night another family is dealing with another death. What is it about rainbows that is so awe inspiring? I feel that rainbows are so comforting, at least to me, because it is a reminder of God's promise he has not forgotten us. The comfort of a rainbow I felt would be so encouraging to this family.
The flower started life as a photoshop brush!!! I decided that for this crop, I will challenge myself to actually USE illustrator and get going! So all day yesterday, on and off, this flower was produced. I cleaned, stop, played, went back to cleaning, and so on. Around 40% of the image was done totally in illustrator, since I am still learning and really wanted to get done in time, I brought it then in funtime and finished it up there. I am aware the petals are not exactly symmetrical in the line thickness, but for a first illustrator attempt, I thought this was pretty cool. I will share the file (defects and all) with anyone if you want it. What I like about it is that it is a single cut image.
I HOPE to proceed with more challenges, but I am not sure if I will be able to do it with Sunday dinner etc. I want to try rach's box for father's day next weekend.
Sorry if I totally misinterpreted this challenge... (edit - you can click the photo to see it larger..I just figured that out - and thanks dawn!)
