Do I need to recalibrate

Do I need to recalibrate

Postby Choi to the World » September 15th, 2015, 12:02 pm

Small shapes are off. For instance the cut for a triangle will not completely close. The larger the object the more off it is. I have a 6" x 10" rectangle which isn't square and the last corner doesn't meet at the last corner, it's off by over a half inch at the last corner to be cut. The paper isn't sliding but the mat is skewing while cutting. All rollers seem to be fine, rolling properly. But the mats is straight and square when I start the machine and by the end of the run its visibly crooked and obviously the cuts are all off as well. Any thoughts? What's going on?

Help!! I have an art show in 4 days. :?

Sounds like your problem is your mat skewing which you indicate that it is visibly crooked. Do you have all or some of the pinch wheels down? Is there something sticky on the pinch wheels?

Calibration is only when you are doing print and cut which doesn't sound like you are doing.

Be sure the pinch wheels are positioned over the grit shaft - if not you will definitely have skewing. And they do slide on occasion just with the mat going in and out so check that first. Assuming you are not cutting exceptionally thick material, I would put the two outside wheels down and roll it back and forth and see if it skews. Check the placement of those pinch wheels over the grit shaft (they should line up with the white rectangles above them).

I'm cutting 105 pound cover stock and the skewing is definitely worse than with the 65 pound cover that I use. The rollers and pinch wheels seem to be clean, and I always check for proper placement! but when I roll the mat back and forth it still seems to be skewing a little. Thank you for the suggestions I will clean the rollers for good measure and report back

Thanks again

Also be sure the mat is not warped and making good contact with the pinch wheels.
