How To Perforate

How To Perforate

Postby bidgeeman » March 6th, 2015, 8:22 pm

Hi,
I was wondering if the Silver Bullet was able to perforate along a fold line? How is this done?

Thanks

You would change the cut line to dashes - see the picture below. (click on the paint palette icon) If you then click on the line drop down menu there are a variety of dashes. Then just lower your force if necessary so you don't cut all the way through. Since you do want it to perforate, you might be able to get away with not changing your force. Try it on the card stock you will be using and play with the force until you get it the way that you want.

Sometimes I use the dashes at a lower force to fold whatever I am working on - makes it easy and I don't have to change tools. Yes I can be lazy about changing blades! :)

Hope that helps.

Thanks Gigi,
One more question.....Will the SB cut AND perforate at the same time?

Thanks

Not sure what you mean. If you mean will it cut dashes and then regular cut lines at the same force - yes. The perforations are just short cut lines - so it's the software sending the message to the machine. It will cut the dashes as dashes and the other cut lines as full cuts. if you need to change your force, then you would put the dashes on one layer and cut them and then the cut lines on another and cut them after. And be sure you are cutting using WYSIWYG so the dashes stay in the place you want them.

Hope that helps.

Oh...that's right....I also heard apparently you can also use the embossing tool to create a folded edge too? Have you ever tried that? Is it as good as perforating?

Well I thought you actually wanted to perforate.

Yes you can use the embossing tool or the engraving tool. You can also use the cut blade at a low force. Lots of options. Try them all and see what you like best. It's really all about whatever result you like best and what you are most comfortable using.
