White cutting strip

White cutting strip

Postby nannie4 » November 3rd, 2014, 10:00 am

Morning everyone. :) Daylight Saving Time ended yesterday and I'm slow to adjust. Here is the issue that I'm having. The white cutting strip on the right-hand side of Ariana (13") has lifted slightly, so that when I insert the loaded mat, it scrapes against the blade. I have tried pressing down this "corner" of the strip, but it doesn't stay stuck down. I suspect that the reason it popped up in the first place is that I have bumped it repeatedly with the mat when inserting it. :hide: So....is there a way to stick that piece down again? Do I need to replace the entire thing? (I sure hope not!) TIA for suggestions. :)

I would email Sherri and ask her - I really don't know and wouldn't want to advise the wrong thing. Her email is ThatsScrap@aol.com

This happened to me with my Cougar. I tried to repair it myself with I can't remember what adhesive, but I was much happier when I replaced it with a new strip. I don't recall it being very expensive, compared to the frustration of having that little bit stuck up higher than it should have been. (Like you, I caught it with the edge of the mat, oops!)

Thanks Elizabeth. I thought that would be the preferred solution, but since I hadn't done it I just wasn't positive!

Thanks, Ladies. I just hoped that I wouldn't have to make another trip across the border for one item. I think I'll try to make it last . I'm going across tomorrow for some cardstock that I bought, but there's no way that Sherri could have a new strip in Upper New York by tomorrow morning. I'll just have to be careful for now I guess and move my point of origin over a bit for all cuts. Hopefully that will do it.

Mine lifted and I restuck it with the red double sided tape. Can't remember the name but it is very sticky. Worked well.

Thanks, Barbara. It's good to know that your solution worked well. Is it Scor Tape? It's very strong and so is Sookwang tape. I did email Sherri and she suggested using a good quality silicone glue (very little, she stressed) and thought that should do it. I'm so relieved! I will replace the strip at some point, but hopefully I can wait until spring now. It's great to have the support of Sherri and this forum . Thanks to all of you again. :D

Yep - checked with Sherri as well in case you hadn't emailed her. The Scor tape or any similar brand is a great idea. Love that stuff!

Oh, thanks, Gigi! That's sweet of you to follow up. :) As I said, I'm happy that there is a solution that I can use here at home. God bless all of you for your help.
