Quick Question.....Blade not returning to exact point

Quick Question.....Blade not returning to exact point

Postby HtownBlue » September 17th, 2014, 6:52 pm

I have not experienced this issue on any other cuts. I am cutting large 8 inch circle on cardstock. Blade cuts fine. The only issue is that the blade when completing the circle is about .5 mm away from the original point where the cut began (blade ends cut towards the OUTSIDE of the circle by about .5mm). It is hardly a huge issue, but I am wondering why the blade would not be returning to the original point on a perfect circle. Any ideas wonderful Silver Buillet-ers????
If I need to post a pic I can.

My guess would be that perhaps your media is moving ever so slightly while cutting. Is your paper brayed down well? Are you using too much force, so that the balde may be moving your paper just a bit?? With out seeing what is happening it is hard to say for sure what is going on.

Along with Diane's suggestions, have you adjusted the overcut to see if that helps at all?

I've adjusted the over cut settings and it seemed to not make a difference. The blade finishes the cut approximately 1mm to the outside of the point on the circle that it began. I may try to spray some additional tack spray on the mat to make sure that the cardstock is not moving. I appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

Are you brayering the paper down? With normal cardstock you should not need to spray additional adhesive. The ReNu adhesive is very sticky and strong.
What kind of material are you cutting?

Are your pinch wheels over the grit shaft so the mat is not slipping while the blade is cutting? That could be another reason for a cut to shift.
