Cutting Mat TOO sticky

Cutting Mat TOO sticky

Postby bgalowerschool » August 29th, 2014, 8:32 am

I am having issues with my paper sticking to the cutting mat. I have tried patting my hands all over it, many times. Things still stick, and paper is getting stuck to the mat. What are your tips?

You can use a lint free cloth to pull some of the sticky off. Personally I love the sticky mat surface! :) Be sure you don't just pull the paper off the mat -if you use a little spatula or something to loosen the edges, that will help release the paper on the mat. Also be sure, if possible, that your pinch wheels are not running over the paper and further pushing it onto the adhesive.

Hope that helps.

Along with lifting an edge with the spatula thingy, I roll the mat over the edge of my table and peel the mat from the paper instead of peeling the paper from the mat...if that makes any sense!! :ROFLMBO:

I find the stickyness of the mat depends on the type of paper I'm using. If I'm using computer paper, for testing, it sticks a lot. Even using a spatula that paper sticks to the mat. If I'm using card stock, it adheres much better with the sticky mat, but also removes well using a spatula. If you are new, you may not have any old mats, but once you start using different mats, you can dedicate one to things you don't want to be on too sticky of a mat. If you have bought a SB after using another machine, you could use an old mat from the other machine that isn't so sticky, as long as it is a size that will fit your machine.
