OK I need some help now :)

Postby kathybessey » March 24th, 2012, 3:10 pm

I have several files from Monica Bjork that I just love but had never tried to cut any of them until now. I really want to use one of her gatefold cards for a card I have to make this weekend. However when I bring the SVG file into MTC it shows the lines as open path type lines and won't cut the entire card out. How do I make these files work in MTC?

Here's a screen shot of one of the files open in MTC and what the cut out version is supposed to look like

kathybessey (this is 2 times I gotcha) Well I don't know if you can close paths in MTC. But you could take it into illustrator and close the pathes. And if you are nice I will help you. LOLOLOL Ok even if you are mean I will help.

I need your help and you know I am the nice little sister in this relationship! LOL

I tried bringing this into Illustrator to do just what you said but I got confused as I couldn't see the open paths!

I don't think I have ever touched those in the advanced tab. I have welded things before from the little icon on the bottom of my screen but not fuse and such. I'll take a look. Thanks Rach!

OK my dear Suzan I did it once (now twice) you BRAT!

Rach - well genius to me my dear because I sat there staring at it, breaking it apart, making shadow layers, etc trying to figure out how to fix it. And all it took were a couple of clicks and ta da!

I finished the card - started a new thread with the pictures.

Suzan, It is okay and I know that. :ROFLMBO: You don't know how to really be mean. We both could use some lessons.I know a few people who I should be mean to. It won't happen. :ROFLMBO:

Suzan, You would never be mean to anyone here. All of the other stuff like cranky, moody etc is probably saved for your DH like mine is and he understands I am not aiming at him. I just need to aim at someone sometimes but never here with this family.
So if I write something here that sounds wrong ask me. It is never meant that way.

you do the fuse and weld in MTC works for many there are times when they are just to far apart and you'll either have to draw the line in or edit the nodes and delete a very tiny section and pull one node closer to the other to join ends
