Cougar Not Cutting...What has went wrong...???

Postby KT Krafter » February 20th, 2012, 2:42 pm

Hi everyone-

I have to tell you....it's been awhile since I have had a chance to get on these boards and check out whats going on...I guess I can blame that on my Cougar ;) ;) ;) I have been cutting like CRAZY!!! And I've got to say I love being able to cut nonstop (couldn't do that with my Cricut).

Anyway...I've run into a bit of a bug. I have been cutting pretty much Nonstop for the last several days and everything is looking great. Just stocking up to prepare for craft shows this year. HOWEVER, yesterday when I went to cut I got an error message. Looks to me like the computer is not recognizing the machine (although I may be wrong).
A box comes up that says 'CougarPlugin' at the top of the box and in the box it reads:
an error occured when trying to communicate with the target device:
The System cannot find the file specified

I am using MTC with my Cougar and have what I BELIEVE to be the latest Version: 4.1.0

Is there something I am missing? Maybe a new update for the cougar? Why all the sudden the trouble? So Confused!!

Thanks so much for any help!
Katie

Did you check your USB cable to make sure it is plugged in all the way? Did somehow the commport get changed? Check your commport.

I also found that twice this weekend we had the cougar driver disappear and had to reinstall it.

Everything is plugged in and seems to be set and ready to cut--still at COMport 6.

I noticed this happen once this weekend as well but when I tried it a second time it cut.

...seemed almost as if there was a problem that it worked out by the time I hit 'cut' a second time.

Any other suggestions for me?

Thanks!

How do I know if the Cougar Driver has disappeared? And if I need to reInstall?

Thanks

Try shutting everything down, and restarting your computer. Sometimes they just get "stupid" and lose things... and a reboot works to put everything back the way it should be.

If that doesn't work, you can download the Cougar Plugin again from the MTC site, and install it again and see if that helps.

you would know if the BC plug in was gone when you open MTC and the option to cut with the bc was not there. the driver I mentioned it the one you downloaded from the startup manual of the BC it can be found a link in the manual in the learning center.
