Detail Blade Holder

I decided to try out my detail blade holder today. I very carefully opened it according to the instruction card included. When I unscrewed the barrel, there is no brass part. Does anyone else have a detail blade holder that does not have the third brass part inside the black plastic part? Have the holders been changed and I have a "new model"? It will only unscrew into two pieces and not three like the instruction card says. TIA!!
