loading mat

Postby janrichards » September 27th, 2011, 2:54 pm

Okay, my machine is here, I have downloaded and installed the drivers and watched the set up video by Tyler. All seems to be going well and then when I tell it to cut it spits the mat out. This is happening in SCAL and MTC. Not sure what I missed. Any thoughts?

Are you hitting the origin before going online? What plugin are you using? What type of cutting from within that plugin?

I just tried it again and hit the origin button before going online but it did the same thing. I am using MTC (tried SCAL) and both did the same. I am going to try a restart and see if that changes anything.

Restart did not help. I set the cougar/lynx plug in as per the video. Not sure what the other question means. Is there a step by step guide somewhere so that I can check and see which step I missed?

Working on it.

Would you send the file so I can take a look? Also, what plugin are you using and what type of cutting from within that program? Knife point? Print and cut? WYSIWYG? Laser Registration?

Sorry, don't have the lingo yet. I just used a simple arrow from the shapes library and did the WYSIWYG format.

no big deal - it becomes second nature with use. :-) When you go to Cut Project With, what do you click on next? Also, if you could attach your file, that would be great!

I go to the Black Cat and make sure the settings are just like you said. I am using an arrow from the shapes library in MTC

I just discovered that my port setting changed back to the default even though I had changed them several times. I am attempting to change them a different way.

Okay - lets do something different. Click on Laser registration. A window will pop up. Where it says X, enter 0. Where it says Y, enter 0. Now, wherever you set the blade will be where your image cuts out. On the mat on the screen, is the arrow pointing to the left or up?

Now my port settings are correct but the computer and the cutter are not speaking. I am glad that I had joined this forum early and found out about the learning curve or I would be very frustrated instead of just somewhat frustrated.

Where do I find laser registration? MTC or the machine?

If your cutter and computer aren't speaking, you just changed something to what it should not be. If it was moving before, you likely had things correct. The fact that the machine was spitting things out was a good sign - it meant you had a connection between your computer and the cutter.

Laser registration is on MTC, right next to WYSIWYG when you go to Cut Project With and choose Black Cat Cougar, but you need to have your machine communicating first.

The only thing I changed was the port settings. I set them to where you said I should in the video.

Thanks for trying but I don't have Skype. I hope to hear from Rachell soon but I have to work the next three days so my time is going to be limited. I'll get there eventually.

Make sure you are loading the mat to the back.

There is a video on my blog that shows how to load the mat when using MTC honey. See if that will help ya!!

I will look at that but I wanted to tell Tyler that I changed my port settings back to the default and now it is spitting the mat at me again. No sure why it communicates when the settings are incorrect but not when they are! Crazy. Just got home from a 9.5 hour workday so I will check out that video in the AM. I only have to work 7 hours tomorrow!
Thanks for all of your help.

OK I watched the video and did what you said and you were right. It did not spit out the mat but it did not cut either. Is there a chance that the port settings are different for the Lynx than for the Black Cat? I just don't get why it communicates until I change the port settings and then it doesn't. And even though it communicates it will not cut. Any hlep would be appreciated.
