Can you engrave on brass plates (like names on plaques etc) with the Cougar? I am buying the 18" Cougar and the "Gotta have it all" kit next week. Thanks

You are so right MeFlick, I just hate seeing a craft project online or getting an idea and not having the equipment to be able to do it. I decided that I was going to replace my Crapcut with the best cutter I could find and the Cougar is it!! I am very excited, it has taken me a few months to save up the funds but I have done it and I will be ordering next week!! **Huge Grin**

OH my, another one to get hooked into engraving. I have found that to be my FAVORITE tool and when I ordered the "Gotta Have IT All" package, I was really wondering if I would ever use it.

I am with you Kim - except that I have not tried to engrave yet (remember I am the one who was afraid of vinyl!!) :ROFLMBO: :ROFLMBO: So if it took me two years to cut vinyl, it will be at least 5 for engraving metal!! Although I will say I am intrigued by it so will have to just go for it one of these days!!

I love all of the encouragement, along with the enabling, that we get here. You are all such fun!

Suzan, I have been a friend of Penny's for a very long time and I have been cutting her files since I owned a cutter. (I am one of those that owned the third party software before I owned the cutter) LOL

Gigi, You can do what I did... get an old soda can, cut it open, and then just play with the engraver until you are comfortable with it. That way, you don't "ruin" any "good" metal, and it gives you a chance to see how it works. I did tape the edges down on the mat, since it didn't want to lay flat, but it still worked very well. I didn't do anything I wanted to keep, but I was able to play with the Eggbot extension in Inkscape to see how that worked, and the engraver to see how it looked once engraved.

Don't wait 5 years, or 5 months, to play with it... or you will kick yourself for waiting so long... DO IT NOW!!!! (well at least in the next few days... LOL)

Gigi, It is hard to mess up the metal. And if you do, which I did, flip it over and do the other side. No one will see the bad side!! Vinyl scared me more than the metal did.
