Sign Cut settings

Postby Suzan » July 23rd, 2011, 8:46 pm

Could someone please snip their sign cut cutter settings in Signcut and post it. Some thing has happened with mine and I am getting I think too much over cut. Also let me know if it is in inches or mm. Thank you

Assuming you want the cutter settings. Keep in mind my blade offset is in INCHES - so if yours is different you need to alter that.

Hope this helps.

Gigi, that is an awfully big blade offset you have there, typically in inches it would be 0.0118. Do you get any odd triangular jags at the corners of your rectangles?

Apologies for jumping in — so what should the correct settings be?
Gigi's is quite different to mine . . .

If you are using inches, then approx - 0.0118
cm - 0.03
mm - 0.3

My problem is Dawn is that on certain cuts it is cutting a little past. For example I cut the ballet mice and on the shoes it would cut a tad to far in the cut out area of the shoe on top. Kind of like a round square at the end it would over shoot the edge just a little. Could that be the problem, or a mis-aligned node maybe. If it is the first should I reduce the overcut a little?

I am not sure whether your problem is overcut or offset. Can you tell me what measurements you have for each (and the units of measurement)

Well it's the number you gave me so I think I just assumed I was in inches and didn't double check. But knowing you, you converted me to cm. It must be as it cuts perfectly.

Sorry guys -my mistake. It's cm. duh. NOTE TO SELF - do not rely on your non-existent memory!

Ok, your offset is fine.
Overcut you will find in the pop up window when you click on the scissors. Choose the advanced tab and half way down is overcut.
You can increase or decrease that depending on what you are cutting. Small items tend to need less than large ones. Typical setting is 12.5 to 2mm for average stuff. I have goine as low as 0.5mm for tiny items

Lol, yes you can change it. I l;eave mine on 1.5mm most of the time but will bring it down if I am cutting stuff like very small lattice work

That should make it better for small images then! I knew it could be adjusted, but didn't think about doing it for more detailed cuts. Great!
