Silver Bullet - Blades

Good morning,

I have finally had the opportunity to use the Silver Bullet for two basic projects.
55 - 8 inch circles on 80lb cardstock
14 - 6 x 9 Envelopes with 105lb cardstock

They worked very well, however, when I got to my 10th 6 x 9 envelope the blade was not cutting through the cardstock anymore. Is it possible that the blade got dull with so few cuts? How often does a blade need to be changed? I was using the 45 blade.

Thanks
Anita

I doubt the issue is your blade as they last a really long time unless you are cutting through a plastic material. Chances are, if you are putting your material on the same place on the mat, it could be slightly lifing if the adhesive is not as sticky. Are you brayering your material to the mat? Also be sure your mat is clean and that there are not particles left on the mat that will interfere with the cutting.

And double check to be sure you are not cutting into the mat. That will dull the blade faster than anything. Occasionally there can be a defective blade, but based on what you said, I don't think that is the issue. My best guess is that it is the lack of adhesion of the material - either from not brayering and/or loss of stickiness! I dont know what size machine you have, but cutting in a new spot, if you can, should make a difference. Also be sure there is nothing stuck to the blade.
