Getting ready to buy

Getting ready to buy

Postby mrqhr » December 12th, 2016, 3:46 pm

1. Other than handling different maximum widths, is there any functional difference between the SB 13" and the SB 15" Pro series?
The Comparison Table at http://silverbulletcutters.com/comparison-table/, does not show the SB 13" model.

2. For cutting 110lb card stock, what mats should I get?

3. What is the footprint (i.e. dimensions) of the SB 13" Pro machine?

Almost ready to pull the trigger ...

Thanks for help.

1. There is no functional difference between the machines and their sizes - just as you said, how wide you can cut. I know longer have a 13" machine - I upgraded to an 18" many years ago so I don't have the dimensions. You can contact Sherri either at the 800 number or at info@silverbulletcutters.com and she can give you the dimensions. Or perhaps someone else with a 13" can post the measurements.

We always recommend that you purchase the largest machine that you can afford and have room for. We never have customers regretting having a larger machine, but we do have those who wish they had ordered larger.

Back to the comparison between the 13" and the 15", if you are cutting 12x12 cardstock, just remember that gives you an inch spare of cutting room. The machine opening is larger, but the machine's cutting width is 13" - measured from the inside right of the machine out.

Hope that helps.

For cutting cardstock, you just need a mat that will fit the opening of your machine, and one comes with it. The super stick mat is for fabric and other materials.

Gigi, thank you for the information.
I had sent Sherri a question on software earlier because on the SD site under "Software" I saw SCAL for sale. My resulting assumption was that it did not come included with the SD machine, so when Sherri indicated I should use one of SCAL's routines to cut the perimeter of patterns, I though I needed to pay extra for it.

So now it's up to Mr. Wallet and desk space to decide on the SD 13" vs. SD 15" ...

I am glad you connected with Sherri and yes the machine comes with SCAL 4.

And not to confuse the issue, but the machine can sit happily on a cart to save your desk space.:) That is where mine sits.

Good luck with the decision.
