Question about bullet blade holder

Question about bullet blade holder

Postby tamihowse » October 23rd, 2016, 8:39 pm

Hey, Peeps. Has anyone had problems with the Bullet blade holder? This is the second time this has happened to me. I like using the bullet because I'm able to really control my pressure. However, this has happened again, where the blade seems to just be making a dent in the material (in this case, stencil material). It seems like no matter what I do, I can't get it to cut through. Unfortunately, I have thrown out a few blades that I thought were dull, but probably not. I have a fresh blade, so that's not the issue (and believe me, I've checked them all for knicks, so I know that's not the problem). I really don't want to have to buy a third holder. I've taken it apart and checked for bits and pieces, so that's not the problem either. Suggestions? Fondly, Tami

Hi,

I have two suggestions:

Try multi-cutting
This video may help (SB cutting stencil material): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fnfd2JCN8E

If none of those suggestions work, please share which blade holder you're using and thickness of your stencil material?
Good luck!

Thanks. I didn't mention that I do multi-cut. I've been cutting stencils for about 3 yrs. for my shop. My question is mostly about the bullet blade holder (not the click blade). Anyone? Fondly, Tami

I have had an issue before of the clamp that holds the holder, to strip some threads and start to loosen which allows the blade holder to slip up and loose tension. Also, if you have a warped mat that has caused the same thing for me too but usually that is not all over the cut just where the mat is warped. Hope this helps!

Hi Tami -

Sorry - my internet has been down the past 24 hours.

Other than the blade holder slipping in the clamp, I have not heard of blade holders malfunctioning. Have you checked to be sure it's not slipping in the clamp? Have you spoken with Sherri? I would send her an email or give her a call. She knows how conscientious you are and I don't think anyone on here has more experience cutting stencils than you do! You are the stencil queen. :)

If I talk to her before you do, I will certainly ask.

Wow, Gigi! Thanks! I think perhaps I'd better go find a tiara and put it on!
I will indeed get in touch with Sherri. Good idea.
Thanks again. Fondly, Tami
