Totally lost about print and cut

So, I'm trying to learn to design stickers and cut them out of sticker paper. I have an adobe file that I want to cut. I did change it into a PNG file (do I have to?) to import. I can import it, but the designs are a solid color. I'm totally lost. I've never done this before and I don't know where to start. I think once I get it traced or imported correctly, I can just use Pandora's youtube video, but I don't know what to do. And, I don't know where to find the webinar. Am I totally stupid??? Fondly, Tami

Tami, when you trace your image, do you check the texturize path and blackout path boxes? If not, try that and see if you get the picture imported.

Don't know about changing the adobe file. I usally have png or jpg files. And just thought you may not be using MTC, that is what I use, so this may not help you.

So we actually did a webinar on Print and cut that could be helpful. Dawn at the end of it does go into Adobe.

SCAL also has a SCAN 2 Cut that could help as well.

If you're needing one on one help I can do that too. Just send me a PM

Thanks Rob - was going to direct her to the print and cut video that you did as I was reading. That should be super helpful and clear.

Holler if you have more questions , Tami.

Thanks, Peeps! I'm going to get to work on it today. I'm pretty excited!
And, Gigi, I just had to laugh. I told HubbyDoc about posting the question in the forum, and I stated, "I'll probably hear from Gigi right away. I swear she sits by the computer just waiting to help someone." And, moments later....
Ha!!!
Fondly, Tami

Funny Tami ! Well clearly others beat me to it today. It's been a rough few days for me but trying to get back into the swing of things.

But always try to help when I can. :)

Glad Rob and others were here to help. Just holler if you get stuck.

OK, do I have to calibrate every time with Print and Cut? Fondly, Tami

No, you don't have to calibrate every time. You only Need to do once. The purpose is to figure out the space difference from the laser to the blade which varies from machine to machine but should stay constant on each machine. Once you have the correct X/Y numbers - make a note of them so you have them if you need to re-enter them again for any reason (like new computer for example.)

Thanks Melanie! :)

I keep all of my settings and things I want to remember in One Note - I love that program. Sherri also recommends writing the numbers down and putting it on the inside of the lid of the machine so it's easily accessible!

I know this is an old post but I was curious if you were able to get it to work! I actually sell sticker sheets and everything I'm watching shows people only cutting one sheet. Is it possible to print and cut full sticker sheets that's has many different designs on it?

Yes it is... just fill your page with your images... create the cut shapes and do the print & cut procedure... but you want to be sure you've calibrated you cutter to insure precise cutting.

And Christine - I know you just got the machine and understand the question, but will just recommend that you take the time to get used to the machine before you delve into print and cut. It is something we recommend waiting several months to do - it can be really frustrating if you/anyone doesn't have a good working knowledge of the machine first. Give yourself the time and it will be well worth it - I promise you that!

And Penny is so right - once you import the images and trace them it can handle as many different images as you can fit on your printer with the registration marks. It still amazes me how well it does!

Have fun learning - it is a process but it's fun! :)

Thanks ladies! I have been playing with the demo software and can tell it's going to be quite interesting! I can't even figure out how to crop! Lol I definitely enjoy the ease of the silhouette design studio but not the software lagging and slow as molasses cutting! I actually make and sell sticker much like the ones posted above so if it can do that then I'm all set...I just have to figure out the software!

You will be fine - really. We were all where you are and if we can all do it - you can too! :)

You should have received the software code so you don't have to use the demo version. Check your spam if you didn't because sometimes it goes there. :( There are excellent videos on the forum and on YouTube to get you acquainted with the software and lots of options for support if you need it.

Just take it slow and you will really be fine - and amazed at all that the software can do and how well it works with the Silver Bullet. It will all come together, one step at a time!

I'm so glad you said that, it was in my junk folder! I was expecting it to come with the SB.

Oh good. I am glad you mentioned it as well! Yes that happens a lot for some reason. So glad you have it - that will make it easier so you have a fully functional software program!

Have a great day!

In Illustrator I always have my colors set to RGB not CMYK. RGB is the truer color. But I don't know if that would fix it.
