I don't know offhand of anyone cutting flannel, but if they have I am sure they will let us know. I would think because most flannel that I have seen frays, that it would need to be sandwiched in between contact paper for a clean cut - or perhaps a fabric stiffener that washes out would be needed....... just a guess.

In my opinion, flannel is just way, way, way too dense for a plotter to cut, any plotter. You'd be much better off with using a sizzix for flannel. If you want to attempt it, you need to make the flannel rock hard, and the only efficient way to do that is soak the flannel in liquid starch (straight up no dilution), let it air dry, and press. You also need the extra sticky mat, and the maximum amount of rollers on your machine. (i see you are a prospective buyer). I have had success cutting regular 100% cotton on this machine, I have not tried flannel as I don't think it is worth it.

BTW - for everyone, I finished stitching the 4th section of my cathedral window quilt, already basted the 5th section and I will be fusing/basting the last 6th section. Once I stitch the 5th and 6th sections, I will then be doing the joins, and head for finishing the quilt! After this is finally accomplished, I can go back to more investigation of plotter cutting of fabric. I wanted to report on the use of liquid starch, which is so cheap (cheaper by far than the terial magic), but in order to do so, I need to do some more tests.
