Gigi on another thread mention pergamano craft paper. Since I never before ever heard of pergamano, I decided I must explore it.

To my surprise, this stuff has been around since the 15th century. To those of you who have worked with pergamano, what is the difference between that and regular vellum paper? I have noticed that inking vellum paper can be tricky. Is that less so with pergamano?

Pergamano is a very good quality, it prints better than most vellums and I have never had a problem with inking it either

Yep - Dawn covered it. That being said, it isn't as available over here as it is across the pond!

You can order from www.EcstasyCrafts.com or www.SweetStamps.com - they carry a lot of pergamano tools as well. I have ordered heavier weight vellum, in a pinch , and it works as well, but you have to watch the weight of it. Pergamano vellum is a much heavier, sturdier weight and I think 48 lb. glama vellum is comparable (going from memory so that may be a bit dangerous!) You need the weight to handle the embossing well and get the good "white" results.

As far as regular vellum is concerned, I love printing on vellum , especially the marble white, and then embossing it. The ink is wet for a short time so you can print a greeting, for the inside of a card, pour clear embossing powder on it and heat emboss. It really makes the printing stand out. If you don't emboss it, you need to be sure and let it air dry a while or it will smear.

This is one I did for my GD. I made an svg file and did all the outlines withe the fine embossing tool on my cat and the hand embossed inside the lines. Because this is solid embossing I probably could have done it all with the cat. Done on 140 gm pergamano parchment.

OH my, I've GOT to have some of this. I looked at Hobby lobby and micheals today and no one even knew what I was talking about.

OMG That is STUNNING!!!!! I really am going to have to try this. I may start out with just learning how to emboss and use the vellum I have on hand, and when I get better, I can move up to the heavier papers... I really need to quit working so much so I have more time to play with all these cool things...

I have been going to parchment lessons since last year. Unfortunately the teacher who has become a friend has melanoma so we go when she is up to it. She has just got back from three weeks in New Zealand so will start again on Monday. I originally went to see if I could use it with the Cougar for Jo to show at the shows and twelve months later I am hooked. The peacock was done at home when she had chemo. Most embossing is shaded which would be impossible by machine but fill embossing could be done and it is great for outlines, be it pencil, pen or fine embossed line. I did a border with the Cougar on a Christmas card. I should experiment more.
