Penny Duncan! Question for you - - -

Postby Texas Sheri » June 11th, 2011, 9:15 am

You mentioned in your video something about dying the microbeads? I have clear microbeads but no colors. How do you go about dying them?

Hey Sheri....if you have some alcohol inks.......just put some microbeads in a baggie....place a few drops of alcohol inks in it and smoosh it around til all the micro beads are covered...then spread the beads out on a piece of wax paper or something like aluminum...(something non absorbent) to allow to dry...shouldn't take long at all...and there you go...custom colored to your desire...I do that ALL THE TIME with Rhinestones....but I'll use my copics or sharpies.....they're alcohol based as well......

I do this with making my own dew drops for cards and projects. Using a hot glue gun and my craft mat I make several small drops of glue. After they dry and harden up, drop a few in a baggie and add a few drops of alcohol inks and smoosh it around until they are all covered. Then pour them out onto wax paper and let them dry. You can do the same with small brads - place the hot glue drop on the brad and let dry then color with alcohol inks or perfect pearls.

Now if I did that with a glue gun, I would loose all my fingers to burns. LOL. But it is a really cool tip. Glue guns and I have an agreement, I stay away from them and they don't burn me LOL

you can emboss brads. Just smear them with a clear embossing pad , dip them into the embossing powder and heat set. I've done that in a pinch.LOL

Yep - have done the embossing powder on brads. Can also color them with copics or put glue on them and dip in glitter or fun flock - and on and on!!

Sometimes I cut the ends off the brads and use them as buttons - well sort of - you get what I mean! Just use a glue dot or dab of glue to put them on something.

Or - getting silly now - you can just cut a circle of patterned paper, put it on a craft mat and cover it with glossy accents or a similar product (like Crystal Lacquer) and you have an epoxy looking brad!

I will alter about anything that doesn't move - oh that doesn't sound good , does it??!!?? :hide: :ROFLMBO:
