OMGoodness thank you Lisa, you know I have a birthday coming up and since they really messed up my 50th, I think hubby should get me this for my 51st. I know all you sympathetic wives and girlfriends will agree with me.

As far as I am concerned so many of those other tools enhance the use of the Cougar. And even if they don't - they are fun!
Re the Cameo, I think that could give the Zing a run for its money if they open up the software

Pat I TOTALLY AGREE with you And Dawn I SO it agree it just opens up more areas for the kitties to be used!!!!!!...I've seen the you tube videos on the Zing......I'm NOT AT ALL impressed!!!! I'll leave it at that cause I don't want to stir anyone's pot...but I wouldn't want that machine if it was given to me.....Just ME!!!!!

A note on size suzan though with the big shot pro, that interior space to fit is 12 3/4, it is just a wee bit shy of a full 13". Sizzix was very criticized on that. That is the difference between the BSP and the studio - the studio's width is so big that doing an embossing folder - you know - so that it completely folds over like a store one - so that the inside carries a full 12 inch piece of pape - is doable. I am not sure whether a completely fold over folder (like a store one) for a full 12" paper is doable in the BSP because of the 1/4" shy miss of the magic 13" number (Dawn would better know).

There's a really big difference in price between studio and the BSP westminster, and the space issues are tremendous. In the space I have for my hobby spot, I have JUST ENOUGH space to fit the BSP westminster, I would not be able to fit anything else.

Dawn can comment better in terms of creating embossing folders for the BSP, because she's been doing it alot longer - and if my memory serves me right - she might even have a tut on it on the UK site. I'm going to look for that later after I finish my box, which MUST be finished tonight!

For myself, I am happy with doing a folder for 8 1/2 x 11 paper. My BSP was more quilting geared than paper, but I want to use for paper as well and use the cougar for embossing folder cutting.

That will work fine for me, because anything I emboss would be 12 x 12 anyway even if it is in pieces.

You can do the full 12" folder with the BSP. I just do it so that the join goes into the machine first rather than sideways.
But also there are so many duifferent ways to make the folders, some don't need to be joined at all if you use foam or rubber with them instead of the negative

I really like Oh My Crafts - granted, my sister works there and the owners would always come over at like 10 at night to go roller blading with my parents when I was younger, so I am slightly biased! But they are a wonderful company!

So if one were to get an embossing machine, it sounds like the Big Shot Pro would be the one? Is that what I am gathering?

There are several ways to do it. One involves taking a couple pieces of chipboard and cutting your design out in them. Then put the cutouts on another piece of chipboard so you have a positive and use the scraps as a negative. I hope you get the idea!

Another is to just cut out your design and if you have an embossing machine and a foam mat, you can use that as the opposing side. (Sorry - this may have been the worst explanation ever!)

That would make it a one sided embossing folder right. I have seen some do them with the magnet sheets also.
