OMG! Retta!!!!!!!!

Retta - I also thank you for the file from the depths of my heart. This will be a perfect project for next week, as I have to do something soon for someone I know.

Since I am still very new to the inkscape/signcut combination, I might need to wait for rach's alteration on the .mtc file for actual cutting - but I did download the .svg to try to learn more about the inkscape side.

Question when you said to color the chipboard ahead, did you mean you also cut cardstock, and glued it to the chipboard before cutting the chipboard - or did you color it using a different method?

Thanks so much again for your generosity in sharing your work here.

You are all welcome.

Pat, I made mine out of chipboard. I had ugly chipboard andd used ink to cover it first. The pieces to cover the chipboard do not come all the way to the edge. You would have to cut it differently to do that I think you may be able to cut the other pieces out of cardstock or thinner chipboard - like cereal boxes.

Can't wait to see what you all make.. If you look at the blogs listed on the cutter file, you will see a step by step one on the one that has the pattern..

Happy cutting!

I was at my friend's this weekend. Each thank you so much. Can you explain what you had to do to the file to me? I really want to know.

I will be home later and check it all out. I'm on the road right now. Have a good night!

basically just a little resizing and moving a few of the fold lines to the positions where they were off just a bit the cut the file again to see if needed more adjustmens then adjusted and cut agin to make sure all pieces were fitting together as they should.

I ditto what everyone has already said here Retta, about you and the project! Thank you for sharing and thank you Rachellann for converting it to MTC for others. I will have to get it downloaded later this week (on my MAC right now and will need to do it from my PC) and maybe have a go with it. I still haven't been crafting much since still trying to get back into the groove since my surgery - but this has given me some "inspiration". It will help (I hope) that my lovely chlldren are returning to school this week! ;)

Thanks Rachellann. I think when I designed the file, I had snap to lines on and it would change my settings. I sure appreciate the help! You Rock!

Meflick - I hope you are recovering okay! It is no fun when you can't play.

Everyone - please share what you make. If you are like me - you save the file and forget you have it until you need it. I am going to try to make more of these to have on hand.

And thanks everyone for your support for both me and Rachellann - who is making sure it works right!!!

Thanks, Retta! I'll try soon. Because of the bad cutting mojo I've had lately, I will try something simple first. But this project is so great, it is definitely going on my to do list! Maybe I'll be ready by the time the super sized box of Apple Jacks in the pantry is empty. LOL

Retta -

Quick question - how did you ink up your ugly chipboard? Thanks to rach, I understand the assembly now. I have cut all the pieces, but want to color my chipboard too, so that it blends in with the covering paper. I was thinking of spray painting, I do have a metallic gold spray paint, it is the only color I have that matches, but it is very shiny. I also have the pearl ex powders as well as the gum arabic, lumniere pearl white, and the varnish. I also have to get going on the decorations, and try hard to find some knob pulls at lowes. It's funny, I wanted to order so bad some hardware I found online, but I was trying to conserve. It sure would come in handy now! I want to do the ink/spray part tomorrow so it dries in time. I have to have this ready by Thursday...

Pat, I used an ink pad. But, for better coverage I think spray paint, etc. Would be better!
