Hello all. Ok so now I need help pretty please with doing car magnets. What kind of material would you suggest that the silver bullet could cut and what kind of printer would you suggest for doing print to cut with. Thank you all very much.

I am not familiar with car magnet material, but it should be about the same stuff that I cut from Signwarehouse and H&H Sign Supply. The magnet sheets that I cut are a little thick and had to cut on multi pass (I think they were in the vinyl section, but not positive). I will say that I cut them on the roll and that the magnet sheets are slick so I had some skewing when cutting multi pass. Oh, and I cut it when i had my Cougar and the rollers were not as tight as the SB. BUT, I would suggest either putting them on the mat to cut or to put painters tape on the portions of the magnet that will meet the grit pad and where the rollers will be. Just to give it a litle more traction. As for printers, I use an HP InkJet and a Brother Laser printer, then I have a cheap but good little HP Mono Laser printer. Again, I am not familiar with car magnet material but it shouldn't be too much different from the regular magnet sheets. Will add that the difference in the printing of a Laser vs. Inkjet is all in what you want your print to look like. Personally, for artwork, I like Inkjet. For photo, I like Laser.

The magnet sheet I cut was a dense material so you need to slow down the speed. But it does cut very well.

Hi Kim,

Which HP InkJet do you use for magnets. I'm looking around and there is a lot of HP InkJets lol. Is there a certain model you would recommend? Thank you very much. Sorry for the late reply. I've been swamped this week with orders.

I haven't printed any magnets....only cut magnetic sheets. But I have a printer that I use for work which is an HP all in one. Don't know the model number but it is super old. I will say that it is best to get a printer with separate ink cartridges for each color. Cheaper in the long run. I have had several HP printers and they all are good.

Let us know how it turns out. I may have to try the car magnet stuff. Interesting that you can print on it and then cut. I made a memo board....cut out the magnet sheet and then covered with vinyl and a "eraseboard" vinyl. It is currently packed up from my move so I can't post a pic. It was a great project for my refridgerator.

We have a LOT of customers that are making magnets using the print and cut method and then they sell them. there are different thickness's of magnetic sheeting and the sales dept. at sign warehouse is a VERY good resource. I use them all the time. Once you find the one that works the best you can then source the material thru a wholesaler. All of them work, it is just how thick you feel it should be. Most of it cuts like butter. I have tried many different brands.

Sherri suggested Sign Warehouse above. You might want to start with them? I know there are many here who purchase from them....
