Detail blade stuck in holder

My 45 degree detail blade is stuck in the holder ie stuck in the little magnetic slot. Has this happened to anyone before? Is there a way to pull it out? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't know that I have heard anyone have this issue before - and not sure how it's stuck. I don't use mine as much as I probably should - so just opened mine up to see if I can understand what you mean. So when you unscrew the top, the blade should be attached to the top (don't lose the spring!) - or it would just fall out. So do you mean you can't get the blade to come out the bottom? I am grasping at straws, but you might have the spring caught which is keeping it from being exposed. Can you explain more on how it's stuck?

This is a photo of the blade. It just won't release from the little slot. I have used the detail blade and detail blade holder before and was able to simply remove the spring and the blade. This time round the spring comes output the blade remained attached and no amount of pulling at it will release it.

Thanks Jo. I just took mine apart to reach that same conclusion - but it took me a while to figure that out! Should have waited for you to straighten it out!
The blade should be going through that piece pictured and then it sits in the black piece that is the bottom of the holder. That was clear as mud huh??

Right I see...not sure how that happened when I was inserting the blade, must not have been concentrating. The blade is jammed into the brass barrel permanently it appears. Means I've no choice but to buy a new detail blade holder and detail 45 degree blade. Bummer!

I assume you have tried little pliers to pull it out? Might take one on each piece, but I would think that would release it. No?

Had thought of the pliers but was reluctant as might bend/damage blade. Well, worth a try - if it works great, if it doesn't, well, have to buy new blade anyway (perhaps at least I might not have to buy a new holder if the blade comes out even if damaged). Thanks all for the help.

You are welcome - fingers crossed. I would think if you put the pliers on the shaft of the blade that it shouldn't damage it (and might save you from buying a new holder!) Please let us know!

BTW - I tried the pliers on each end and it worked, managed to separate the blade from the barrel. Not sure if I have slightly bent the blade - looks okay though and I have a spare anyway - but the important thing is I have rescued the the holder. So thanks very much for the help and advice!
