Restarting a project?? Cutting off machine?

hi everyone!
I have the 24" silver bullet and I can not figured out for the life of me how you cancel a project once it has been sent to the machine. My paper came up and messed up the project I was cutting, I had to pause it and literally cut off my machine to reset it?? I do not want to have to cut my machine off every time it messes up. Is there a setting to cancel out the memory in the machine, so I when I hit the online button it doesn't try to finish the project? Its a real hassle when you have a mat that give you trouble.

As far as I know the only way to cancel is to turn the machine off. Someone else will be on to tell you if I am wrong.
