Cutting out Clear Polymer Stamps

Cutting out Clear Polymer Stamps

Postby Jstacy » April 12th, 2013, 10:23 pm

Has anyone in here used any of the electronic cutting machines to cut out clear photo polymer stamps? I'm talking about the full size polymer sachets packets. I need to purchase a electronic cutter that has a software program that I can open up my own images in, and set the cutter to cut them all out one at a time. So I don't have to! I need a time saver!
Thanks!

Hi Jody,

I just checked out a tutorial for photopolymer stamp making, (wish I hadn't: now I want to make some!) and I don't understand what you would be cutting, since it seems that a chemical reaction between light and the polymer resin creates the raised image for stamping. Could you provide a bit more information? Thanks!

maybe for just cutting around the stamp, like a shadow layer.

There were stamp kits available for people to make their own clear stamps. I am positive, if that is what you are thinking about, the cougar or silver billet can do those.

I'm also hoping to find a way to cut clear photopolymer stamps but have had no success. I'm going to give a try at cutting rubber to make stamps from my designs. I just ordered thin sheets of rubber from the makers of Pazzles. Here's the link: http://pazzles.net/store/Stamp-Kit-SKM.html

If a Pazzles can do it, then the SB will have no problem with it. Looking at the kit, you have to stack the cuts onto another sheet.

I was told the thin rubber is 1mm and the thick is 2mm. I think the idea is that you cut your design out in both thicknesses and then stack them to get the depth needed for inking. What's the max thickness that the SB can cut? (I just ordered the 60 degree long shaft blade.)
