Card Challenge #6 - Accordion Birthday Present Card

Accordion Birthday Present Card – By CeCe

This is a very simple card to make. There are 2 different files available. One is for paper up to 12 inches wide, and the larger one is for those who have the 24 inch paper. With the smaller paper, you will have to glue the two pieces together. It is an accordion card with graduating sizes of gifts. I want to see what you do with this. Embellish it, make it pretty. Create an envelope to use with it! The envelope isn’t necessary to complete this challenge, but I would love to see what you come up with. Most of all, have fun!
I’m not including instructions as I think you can figure this one out by yourselves!

What can I do to help you? Maybe I didn't make the file correctly. What size paper are you using?

Hey CeCe, I'm using the MTC file. (12x12 paper) I have the two ends on the right hand side of your file put together, which gives me the same thing on either end. I just can't get it to stand up correctly. Maybe my brain is just fried...I will cut another today and give it a go. Thanks CeCe...I WILL get this. ;)

I have a confession to make. I wasn't happy with how mine was standing up either. I thought maybe I had used to heavy of a ribbon for the big gift, but I don't know. I had done this one really quickly, and honestly didn't put the time and effort into it that it required. But I was following directions, (size, etc.,) from a card book. I was thinking if you put a cross piece on the back, maybe attached with a brad, so it will turn, then that would still allow it all to fold, but help it to stand. When I get a chance I will show you what I mean. Again, I apologize for it not being that great of a file.

I understand what you are saying about using the brad. I will try that and see how it goes ;)

I tried that, and it did not work at all! I think it is about displaying the card. You just have to work with it. I will post two more pictures here that hopefully will help.

ok, that is exactly how mine is put together, it just won't stay standing up. Maybe my card stock is just too heavy, so I will work from that angle and see...thanks CeCe!

Here is the Accordion B-day Present Card that I made today. It was really fun, and I'm going to make some more of them. I like the way it pops out of the envelope when you open it. I altered the construction just a bit by removing one of the end flaps and attaching the ends. I made a coordinating envelope to fit and decorated it a bit. Yay, another way to use scraps! Usually, I am lazy, and resize cards to fit standard envelopes. I think I'll make my own more often. Thanks for the fun challenge, CeCe!
