Challenge 4 - Treat Box

Challenge 4 - Treat Box

Postby corwins » September 9th, 2011, 6:10 pm

I asked Rach to create the box. It is a great little box. I decorated it by using colored pencils and mineral spirits which I like my better than copics!!! Thanks Beanie. I added some ribbon and it is ready to be filled with goodies. Woohoo!
For the file please go to Rachell's blog http://rachellsmanycrafts.blogspot.com
Then go see on my blog http://www.mycardspot.blogspot.com what the colored pencil and mineral spirits looks like with digi stamps.
My challenge is for you to make Rach's bag and decorate it using colored pencils and mineral spirits.
Have fun
Sheri

Hey Sheri, I did that on the front of my inlaw's anniversary card which is on my blog. It's definitely a fun technique.

This looks really fun. I'll have to pick up some mineral spirits tomorrow.

CeCe - when I blend pencils with mineral spirits, I use a stump, dip it in the gamsol or whatever you are using, and blend it out. I find coloring with the pencils is very calming - I love the Copics for some things and the pencils for others!! It is amazing how beautifully they blend with the stump - it's one of my favorite tools!

If you want more detailed instructions holler and I will find them - racing out the door so just trying to get you started. Try on a scrap paper to get the feel of it.

CeCe, outline the image where you want a certain color with the colored pencil. Then, dip the tip of the stump in the mineral spirits. Touch it to the color on the outline and in small circular motion move the color towards the middle of the area you are coloring. It is really fun and easy. Beanie told me how and I also watched videos also on youtube. Crayola colored pencils work great and if you have an Office Max, their Schoolio brand is good too.

It looks like this and is called a blending stump - you can get them at any craft store or art store - usually come in sets of three. Also online all over the place! If you need a link just holler!

I have the Prisma pencils and had to search and search before I found them, luckily, my gamesol had not dried up. I think I shaded the edges a bit too much and covered some of my coloring; this seems to be the night for mistakes for me,
