Challenge 6

Im sure there are going to be other challenges that involve etching. So I thought Id change the theme up a bit. For this challenge you must etch something with a Celtic theme. It can be anything and you can etch it with an air eraser or etching cream or any other way you choose. This should also be considered a gift so start thinking of someone who is either of Celtic descent or just loves drinking green beer on St. Patty’s day.

Here is my example, I did this last year I believe in the MTC Christmas crop that Christy did. I used a mirror I bought at Hobby Lobby (using a coupon of course) and etching cream. I cut the stencil out from vinyl. I left my cream on for 30 minutes.

OK etching creme (armour etch) works on mirrors as well as glass?

For this challenge, is frosted glass spray paint considered OK? When I was shopping for gallery glass paint a few days ago, I saw that and picked it up on a whim (even though I do have the etching cream). With a 50% coupon, the frosted glass paint was only $5 and that is pretty cheap. If the spray paint is not OK, that's fine, I wanted to see what is considered OK before I do.....

Maxine - thanks so much for that feedback! You see - I have these cheepie plastic-type craft mirrors - and I am not that confident that the etching creme will work on that plastic stuff. This is why I asked so I would not have to go out and buy a mirror right now. This way I can play to learn the challenge with the materials I have, and then perhaps do real etching with a real mirror later.

This is pretty off topic, well...kind of. I have a huge 22 oz bottle of etching cream that I bought for like 36 bucks a month ago. I used it once, but then I ended up getting an air eraser. If someone would like to buy it for like $20 bucks, I'd be happy to send it to them - I would pay the shipping and it will be priority. I just don't need it anymore and the bottle is practically full.

Anyways, it may help someone do this challenge.

I had to Google Celtic to see exactly what it was. I hope I did it right.

Here is mine. It is to be a wedding present for next weekend. I haven't decided yet if I like it. I still need to clean the glass but the stuff is downstairs. LOL.
