Challenge 30 – Treat Box by CeCeCreates
I wanted to make a different kind of treat box for us all. I sure didn’t realize how “challenging” this would be for me to design! But I hung with it, and I think it turned out okay, LOL! I made 2 different size boxes; one is just a little larger than the other. I think the smaller of the two would be best for candies, and the larger could be used for candies or cookies. The way the box is designed though, I would suggest putting the cookies or candies in some sort of wrapping. Of course using a heavy weight card stock would work best too.
When cutting the box out, I cut the fold lines separately from the box itself, as I like to use a lower pressure for the fold lines. In the MTC file, I have the fold lines on a separate layer. So of course you would simply close the fold line layers when cutting the box layers, and vice versa. If you open the file just using the svg files, then you will need to break the image in order to cut those layers separately.
I would like to see what you can do with these boxes to embellish them. For example, I put ribbon through the holes, and added a tag. The tag is just from basic shapes in MTC. I cannot share the tree on the tag as it is not mine. But I want to see what you will do to make them pretty anyhow. That’s what’s so fun about these challenges, to see what everyone else does with the same thing.
You can see from the photos that I laid the parts all out and glued them together like so. I was thinking that since you won’t really use these boxes until the holidays, that you might not want to glue the bottom flaps until you are ready to use the box. That way it will fold flat until you are ready to actually use it.
Please be certain to post pictures of your boxes here to count as part of the challenge. Thanks.
Well, I hope you all like the box. Please let me know if you have any questions or if the file is deficient in any way. (As you can tell, I am full of confidence! LOL!)
Okay, as you can see by the photos, originally my file had the sides separate from the front and back sides. But now I have changed it so that each side is welded onto either the front or back side of the box. I had one of those “duh” moments and realized I should do that! LOL! Tweaking, tweaking, tweaking…….
