Sample for a Christmas tree (3" tall) using cardstock.
Next I'd like to try cutting a taller tree with more branches from thinner paper to get more of a honeycomb effect perhaps.

I took inspiration for this from ornaments my sister used to make from fabric. I wasted a tonne of time trying to cut out a lacy trim I designed and finally decided to use some real lace instead. That left the only paper cutting as the two rectangles! lol. She's nothing fancy, but I kind of like how she turned out.

Jeannette.. I love that angel... I may have to try something like this. I bought a bunch of small gold ornaments at Michaels last year on their Christmas clearance to use for heads for angels.. (I saw another project using them, but now I can't remember where) But yours looks a lot easier, and faster.

Did you just cut out rectangles, and score them then gather in the middle for the wings, or is each wing a seperate rectangle, and glued at the end?

I think I know the project you are talking about - it started on the Fred, She Said site and she made a cutting file for them I made a ton of them using the little ornaments - they were so much fun but MUCH more time consuming and I like Jeannette's -even better!!

I attached a pic of the ones you might be talking about - not the best photo but it gives you an idea. I did some with feathers on the wings that were REALLY pretty - but it was a lot of gluing and fiddling!

Angel, they are very easy to do. Here's the dimensions I used. The fans could be made fuller (wider and more creases).
Wings - 4"x4", folds every 1/4" Gather at middle
Skirt - 3"x5"wide, fold every 1/4"

Before assembling with a glue gun, I used a tiny hole punch to put a hole through the gather of the wings and skirt, and tied it tight with a string.

This was the last challenge for me and it pushed me to use my honeycomb paper. I cut an ornament shape with an LD svg and then cut the honeycomb for both sides. I put on stickles glitter and used glossy accents and clear beads on parts of it too. It is so much prettier in person and I just couldn't get good photos! My battery in my camera died and I've been chomping at the bit to hurry and get these pics in. Thanks LindaCrew4 for a great challenge!
