This is a true story! God Bless my DH!!

My DH has been obsessing about an upcoming wedding on his side of the family. His wonderful (ha ha) brother's son is getting married and I am making arrangements for my husband to go. (I really HATE to miss the wedding, but I will be fine! LOL)

DH's great-great grandmother made a rug that is called "The Marrying Rug" and is used at wedding ceremonies. DH is concerned about getting this rug to his brother and then who will take "possession" after the wedding. I told him it would come back to us. He said that we would not use it again in our family because his kids are already married. Ok. So, I said what about your cousin Nikkie? Maybe her grandkids would want to use it. He said that she "was no longer a Peterson". I argued and said she was. He said, "No. She is married and her last name is not Peterson." I tried to explain that she was still a Peterson, just as my sisters are still Kobe's. Didn't work. He didn't get it. According to him, I am still a Kobe because I use a hypenated name, but my sisters are not Kobe's. Good GRIEF!!! Finally, I said, "Ok. Well, look at the family tree. Nikkie is there under her dad's name (Peterson). And she is married now, but she is still a Peterson. He still did not get it!

My husband has one biological granddaughter and he said she probably won't use the "Marrying Rug" because when she gets married she will change her name from Peterson. :banghead:

THEN, he asked if Brennan, (my grandson) is a Peterson. :banghead: :banghead: NO!!! Brennan is not a Peterson because YOU are not his biological grandfather. "but he calls me Papa".

He can take the rug to Canada for the wedding and it can stay there until another "Peterson" gets married! I am worn out trying to tell him that his whole family on that side are all Petersons!
