Need Computer Help

Need Computer Help

Postby kmmhug » April 4th, 2013, 11:08 pm

I had the hard drive replaced in my computer on tuesday and spent the rest of the day reloading all my stuff. Everything is in and working great with one exception. For some reason, no matter which browser I use (chrome or firefox) it does not seem to be remembering my place in threads on any forum at all. I will click on the new posts and it will go down as if going to the new post and then back up to the top of the page that the new posts start on. It is really starting to drive me nuts.

Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to enable it to keep my place? I never set up anything special before and I do not have anything loaded different now from before but for some reason this is happening....

Do you have a "automatically delete cookies and browsing history" type of button checked? I'm still using IE, so I'm not sure what it is called in Chrome or FF.

Just a thought...Have you tried using a different browser just to see if it happens in every browser???????

Originally it was all browsers, but now it appears limited to Chrome so something I have been trying in settings did fix it in Firefox.

I am so frustrated as I really do prefer Chrome but this is driving me up a wall. I may have to switch if I can not get it figured out....

It is fixed. I had tried everything I could think of and no one else seemed to have any ideas either so I deleted Chrome all together and downloaded it again and reinstalled it, linked it to my account and it is working fine now. It must have just glitched in that area in installation. So glad it is fixed! :D :D :D

Glad you got it fixed, I just recently installed Chrome, to see if I like it better than Firefox, and so for I do... pages seem to load so much faster. I'm still trying to figure it all out, there are a few things I don't like, but can't find a way to change it. I had a menu on my Firefox window for File, Edit, View, History etc, and I can't see any way to get a menu like that in Chrome, or if it is located somewhere else. But that isn't a deal breaker for me using Chrome, if that is the only thing I don't like about it.

Diane -

I have only been using Chrome about a month and love it. Your history and edit features are in the three horizontal bars on the far right at the top. Not sure what you need under file, but the print option is there as well. I think you will find about everything you need - and I love how it imported everything I had in Firefox just the way I had it and it was easy to pin some of my tabs that i always keep available.

Hope that helps a little......

Thanks Gigi, I did like the way Chrome imported all my bookmarks and did find the three bars on the right side. I guess I need to see what all is available in those settings and just explore them all.

Well history, edit and print show right up - I think you will like it; it sure doesn't hog the resources like Firefox did!
