It has been a rough month, but today was the first day of hope. My husband's cancer is fairly extensive throughout his body. They started him on chemo three weeks ago. He was given prescriptions for pain and nausea. Long story short, he was not able to get out of bed or eat for the first week. We finally figured out the pain and nausea meds were making him sicker than the chemo. Round two of chemo and he didn't really take pain or nausea meds, but he was still barely able to get from the bed to the recliner and still little food intake. In two weeks he has lost 20 pounds and is very weak. Round three of chemo and they have reduced the chemo by 20%. What a change. He is eating, staying awake, and finally getting up and walking around the house just for some exercise. Apparently he is hyper-sensitive to many medications. We never knew this because this man has always been very healthy and has never taken any medications on a regular basis. As many of you know, the road to cancer treatment is long and bumpy. He is so encouraged he plans to go to work on Monday and see how long he feels like working. I think he needs something to think about besides his own illness and fear. We have been so blessed with such caring family and friends. The support here at home and on line has been unbelievable. I just wanted to thank all of you and let you know there has been a ray of sunshine in this dark cloud hanging over our heads. Thanks for being here for me. May God bless each and every one of you!!
