My cousin needs prayers (Update: Cancer Free for 1 year!)

Hello friends out there: I have a dear cousin who is battling cancer with the greatest outlook of anyone I know. After two years of fighting, 3 major surgeries, and a bought with radiation she is scheduled for her 4th surgery to remove a tumor along with a few organs (just a kidney, spleen, the works). She's miraculously been able to do this debt free, but with having no way of making income in the next 8 weeks and possibly longer she is finally asking for help. Please read her blog and learn more about the incredible woman that she is: http://razzzberries.blogspot.com/ For anyone that is able/willing, a national account has been set up with Wells Fargo - Laurie Evans, Mesa, AZ. Please, please help if you are able to.

I don't normally (or ever) ask for something like this, but Laurie is still in her 30's, won't be covered by her insurance for much of this, and hasn't been at her new job long enough for paid leave while she is recovering...if people are willing or able to help her out financially, bless you. If you are only able to offer prayers, those are welcome as well. I can't believe all the curve-balls life has thrown her lately, and the incredible way she has been dealing with it all. If you have time to read some of her blog, you will get to know a wonderful, amazing, humorous young lady, and you will be aware of blessings in your life you usually take for granted...

Thank you so much everyone!

I know Laurie will be so grateful for the prayers on her behalf!

May I just say, CANCER SUCKS!!!! This past week, I attended the funeral of a friend who died of lung cancer. He never smoked a day in his life.

My dear Mother-In-Law, my "Other Mother", Mary is dealing with her incurable cancer and waiting for her latest test results this week... it is incurable, the doctors will help her with different flare ups as they happen, but Mary's cancer is metastasized (spread) throughout her body. [This is the dear lady I asked for prayers this Spring when her leg broke on a trip to Hawaii and it turned out to be bone cancer...which was either a spread of her former breast cancer, or a side-effect of her radiation for the breast cancer] Basically, this is tearing my DH apart knowing he is going to lose his Mom, and not knowing when the call will come that he needs to get there to say goodbye. Mary has always been the healthiest person I know, she ate right (beyond healthy), exercised daily, etc...I can't tell you how much I detest this disease!!!

Sending positive thoughts & prayers your way, for your cousin (love her determination, courage & humour by the way!) & your MIL. Yep, CANCER SUCKS — had yet another one of those "just letting you know" phone calls yesterday morning.

Aw Iggy!!! Dearest Lord, we know that this horrible disease is killing people we love. We would always ask that you please heal them. That you would restore their bodies and make them well. We know that you allow some things for reasons we do not understand but you never let us handle it alone. Lord please be with these dear people. Give strength when need, comfort and hope always and Lord just hold them very close to You and to know how very precious they are. That You love them and so do we. Lord being them the peace that passes all understanding! Lord we just thank you for who You are and all You do to care for us. Amen.

You have it....CANCER SUCKS! It has taken many loved ones. And it isn't picky about who it takes....those that lead wonderful and healthy lives or those that don't. Mary and Laurie are in my prayers.

Today is Cousin Laurie's (rhymes with "sorry") surgery.

Please spare a thought or prayer for her today if you are so inclined.

She has been amazed at the large number of people checking out her blog and the varied areas of the world they are from! She is thankful and grateful for all the prayers offered so far.

Now for an update on Mary. (My 'Other Mother')

She was awaiting the results of a CT scan, and finally heard back....nothing...no tumors, no lesions, no swelling, no sign of the cancer! This was a scan of her chest, her abdomen, and her upper legs. They won't declare her in remission or cancer-free until she has a certain number of clear scans, but this is fabulous news! In Mary's words: "Don't write me off yet!" :excited: :-D

Praising the Lord for Mary's clear scan. What an answer to prayer. Praying for many more. And praying that Laurie is doing well after her surgery and that is much better than expected also. Be with her and help her to be pain free after her surgery and heal quickly. Still praying for them both!

Hugs Iggy!

I haven't heard much, just that she did get out of surgery and was pretty groggy/drugged up...

Meanwhile, look at these adorable finger-puppets a friend is selling on etsy to help Laurie! (They are so cute!

She has made it home!

Her hospital stay was less than pleasant, with two major transfusions needed, but she has finally been released!

If you want the details (and I do mean all the details), Laurie posted on her blog here: http://razzzberries.blogspot.com/2012/07/july-3.html ***alert! Laurie is extremely candid about some of her difficulties/troubles while in the hospital, she is keeping this blog to help her write a book as this is her 3rd bout of this cancer in two years.

If you don't care to read intimate details about bodily functions, just skip to this post: http://razzzberries.blogspot.com/2012/07/july-4.html It's much cheerier and describes her hometown and some of it's quirkiness.

I am so happy to hear about Mary's clean scans!!! Thank GOD! Will keep her in my prayers that she continues down this path so that she can be declared "cancer free".

Laurie will be in my prayers as she endures her surgery. What a battle she is raging! But with the many prayers being said for her, hopefully she will endure to win the day.
