Good old Yorkshire Pudding - It would be easier for you to Google it than me write the recipe down. Or how about a really old English recipe. See here:

http://www.godecookery.com/engrec/engrec.html

We once went to one those medieval banquets and had some marvellous old fashioned food but you only got a knife (a bit like a dagger) to eat it with.

Mary - I love this. I think one time when we had to do what Dana's son was doing, we made some sort of gruel? Anyway - it looked awful, but they loved it.

I can't wait to show my teenage son who is becomming quite a chef - this page.

Wonderful site Mary, thank goodness we don't have to cook this way. My family would starve

Oh yorkshire pudding is our family's tradition for Christmas Eve dinner.

My kids all took French in high school and had to bring in French food. They made things like chocolate mousse, meringue cookies, stuffed mushrooms, etc. They usually did their food prep in my kitchen and I aided and tasted. Yum.

Interesting link Mary. One of the recipes I looked at sounded like something out of Harry Potter, lol.
I've been to a couple of those medieval meals. The first one was when I was a senior in high school on a trip to Montreal. It was fun because we were all close to the action and they pulled people into the plot of the evening. The other one I went to was in Toronto with my dh and our kids. It was more of a horse show/act in an arena. It was interesting, but not the same atmosphere as the first one.

CeCe, I was in a francais class throughout high school and the one year we had a meal, but the teacher put it on. The main thing I remember eating that day was escargots! It was fun challenging everyone to try them out, lol.
