Thunder in the Desert

Thunder in the Desert

Postby Suzan » September 13th, 2011, 10:59 am

Wow a first in a very long time. We have been having a thunderstorm since 4 or 5 this morning. Pretty cool for us. And it is raining off and on. Perfect day to be home. Wish I was there.

I wouldn't have thought of that Suzan. It must be nice. We have them all to often and some with Tornado type winds. I'm glad you are getting rain. I wouldn't know what to do!

Well it is fun, but the roads and stuff will be flooded from a 10 minute down pour, plus it is hailing on the other side of the valley so we will get that also.

The rains came down and floods came up. The rains came down and the floods come up. This is so amazing, but it will get really bad super soon. The sand doesn't absorb much. So roads will be closed and all that. But we are ok, we are used to it doing this when it rains.

It is overcast here a little and I guess they are having thunderstorms inland by the mountains - I am too near the coast to get it. I love the rain - love having a fire and being home and just cooking or reading or whatever..... I find the rain calming unless there are rolling thunderstorms - then I get a bit jumpy!!

Suzan - I remember the flooding when I lived in AZ - it was just he same - it would rain and then BAM - there would be flash floods all over the place because the drainage system is SO pour in most of AZ. People get caught in water all of the time because the signs warn them, and then drive through and then woosh - the water comes running out of nowhere......

Please be safe driving home.

Very safe, and it is mostly over now. Boo hoo, can't ever happen when I am home. But one good thing as quick as it floods it goes away just as quick.

Glad to hear your safe and sound! Gave me a bit of education too; I didn't know of this. So, you have educated me some. Here, it rains forever sometimes but shouldn't complain; just seems like when we need it, we don't get it, and when we don't need it we do get it. I am just glad God is control; we'd mess that up too!

I love this time of year. We get a lot of monsoonal flow, but rarely storms, A couple of weeks ago we got about 3 1/2 minutes of rain, Today we had off an on about 7 hours worth of storms and some rain. I am loving it and the clouds are rolling in again. Yippee.

I love the rain - that was one of the things I loved about AZ even though it was stinkin hot in the summer, the monsoons were so cool and the electrical storms were amazing. I have never seen so much lightening in my life!!

I am hoping we get a fair amount of rain this year - especially around the holidays - I love it!

Glad you are safe and sound, Suzan!

Very safe and sound, and we had another storm this afternoon into the evening. It was spectacular. Well except for my baby Daisy (my 60 lb baby). She was scared but we laid on the bed with the TV on and she was ok.

I am so glad you got rain and are safe. I love rain. I wished we would get some here. This has been the hottest summer on record. We are in the midst of a severe drought. The humidity is low and the wind high. Thousands and thousands of acres have burned along with hundreds of homes destroyed and several lives lost. There just doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

I know it is awful, praying for all in Texas to get some great weather and a little rain, no flooding.

We had rain a couple of days ago.. and it rained ALL DAY LONG!!! I love the rain, IF I don't have to work in it... LOL It is miserable trying to deliver mail in the rain. But we did need the moisture, so that was good. And it has cooled things off. I just wish it would not rain until I was finished working for the day. :ROFLMBO: :ROFLMBO:
