Prayers for my mother please.

Prayers for my mother please.

Postby CeCeCreates » August 12th, 2011, 7:51 am

My 98 year old mother fell last night and broke her right femur in two places. She is in a great deal of pain. They will be admitting her to a geriatrics hospital and said that it is unlikely that she will ever walk again. She had been living in an independent apartment in a Senior housing facility where she had some "in house" services. So not technicially assisted living, but close to that. This will be a big change for her, and well, who knows what will happen now. She is in Atlanta and I am in Ohio. So, I am busy doing laundry, etc., in case I need to leave soon.

You are all so awesome here, so I know you will pray for my mother. I am thanking you in advance for those prayers and for your support.

Dear Lord - we ask that you be with CeCe's mom. It has to be hard getting to 98 and now finding out you may never walk again. Pretty much shakes up your world and those that care about you. Lord we ask, that you actually do heal this. That you make it so she may be able to walk again. We know that you are the great physcian. If that isn't your will, we ask that you help her find joy where ever she is at and make her and those around her to be blessings to each other. Bring peace to CeCe's heart and help her know just what you want her to do in regard to her mom. Giving wisdom to the Doctors and those that will help her. Turning this all over to your hands! Amen

Love you CeCe and praying - please keep us updated!

Prayers for your mother and your family. That is so nasty at her age. The only bone I have ever broken was one in my little toe when I was 30 and I couldn't believe how much that hurt. I cannot imagine the pain she is in for those breaks. I will be praying for her pain to be removed and healing.

Prayers are with your mom and you. My mom had a fall a few years ago, and broke her hip, and being a distance from her was so hard. I was able to go and spend time with her at the hospital, but it was very hard to see her in pain. She is dependent on a walker now and can't do much of what she used to, but she's adjusted to that and takes enjoyment out of the things that are available to her.

To be 98 and still living mainly on her own is amazing! I pray that the doctors will be able to help her mend and to make her comfortable while her body has the chance to mend. I pray that she will find peace in her situation and accept the opportunities that the future holds for her.
Please take care of yourself CeCe.

Thank you all so much. The funny thing is I was telling a friend the story yesterday about the first time I broke my ankle. I was 40 at the time and my oldest brother was 60. I am the youngest of 8, and just that day my mother had been bragging to a friend about how many children she had, how old we were and not one of us had had a broken bone. I told my friend that my mother was 98 and even though she had fallen several times, has never had a broken bone herself, except her big toe when she ran it into something once. I never thought she would break a bone since it hadn't happened yet. But, the same day I told my friend, she fell and broke her leg.

They won't dare do surgery as she is so elderly and has a bad heart. They are having problems stablizing her blood pressure with the pain meds they are giving her. I am doing laundry, etc. in case I need to get on the road quickly.

Thanks again everyone.

My mom had to have the surgery, they put a rod up the femur. It was a fairly quick surgery, and then she didn't have to have a cast. Hope things go better, Thinking and praying.

My mother is resting comfortably this evening. The pain meds are working, although they did make her blood pressure plummet at first, but so far they have that under control. They have also gotten her electrolytes in balance as they were out of whack at first. She is very upset with herself for falling. She said, how can I have gone nearly 99 years at not breaking a bone, and do it now? She can be confused at times as a normal course, but this evening was rather lucid. She spends a great deal of time in a "lift" recliner, and was sitting "up" in her hospital bed. Well, she must have thought she was in her recliner as she kept looking about the room. Finally my sister asked her what she was looking for and she said she couldn't see where the bed was. My sister told her she was "IN" the bad, and she had a good laugh at herself. She amazes me. Thank you all again for your prayers.
