I think I lost my husband...

Mary, I just love you!!! I do it every week with a $20. But sometimes that doesn't work. The $5 bills would be easier.

LOL - I spend the $20s too fast, but I have been saving the $5s since I read Mary's suggestion and I have well over $100 saved. If I used cash more often it would help!! :banghead: Working on getting better at it!

I don't use cash much at all, but when I did I put all my change into a jar at the end of the day every day... It added up fast. Now I have a second account that I have money getting auto deposited every paycheck that is my crafting money. If I ignore it for awhile, it starts to add up fast.

Love that idea too - but ignoring it would be the hard part!! It would be calling to me.... "spend me...... spend me......!!"

LOL Gigi... It is hard, but the longer I have the account the easier it becomes. Plus if I'm saving up for something special, that makes it easier to leave alone.

Mary - we have been saving the $5.00 bills since February and have a couple hundred stuck back. It's really funny how you just CANNOT make yourself spend that bill!! We don't use tons of cash, but have become addicted to the $5.00 bill saving. I had a $20 the other day and used it to purchase a Chic-fil-A sandwich the other day...what did I get back?!? 3 five dollar bills...I'm like da#*, there goes my cash!!

we have it set up with our bank account that when we use our card it takes the change and rounds up to the nearest dollar and puts it in our savings. It takes a while but I had saved about 70 in 3 months

I do what Dianne does. About 20 years ago I opened a fee free Christmas club account with $5.00 and that is what stayed in there for about 17 years because I forgot about it. I made 9 cents interest. :ROFLMBO: so I auto deposit $25.00 a week and have done for about 2 years. After I set that up I forgot about it again until I read this. :? I really should check it now. It was for Christmas before last. That might be the secret, use an account you keep forgetting about. Seems to work for me. :hide:

LOL CAGigi Right now it isn't for anything specific, other than to pick up some more of the Distress products that I learned about in the Creative Chemistry class. I want to get the reinkers for all the colors of pads I have, and I want to get more of the Distress Stains.. those are fun to play with.

My problem is that I hide my stash so DH and DS can't "borrow" from it and then I forget where it is. I need to find a good hiding place that I will remember!

Lisa, my hubby "made" me get the big Cougar with all of the trimmings! I actually hesitated, but he convinced me it's what I needed for my business. I love him. ;)
