Whoo Hoo!!!1 Yippee!!! I know she is both thrilled and relieved.

Tell Valerie that we may "know" her but we are all family in the eyes of God. And we are all family on this forum....so she is almost like a daughter to all of us....we just don't have to deal with her every day. :ROFLMBO: :ROFLMBO: Believe me, you don't want to have to deal with DS and pick up after him every day! :ROFLMBO: :ROFLMBO:

:ROFLMBO: :ROFLMBO: Suzan, I would want a refund! :ROFLMBO: :ROFLMBO: :ROFLMBO: Girls have GOT to be easier to raise because I don't think anyone can survive raising BOYS. The bad thing is that you try so hard to raise them right and then they go through this stage where NOTHING has taken. I know that eventually he will GET IT and go back to what I have raised him to be, but in the meantime, I am pulling my hair out. I know I could have things a lot worse and many parents do have kids that are a lot worse, but I just worry because he is just so impulsive and doesn't think. That and his hormones! It was everything his girlfriend's mother and I could do to keep those two on the straight and narrow, keeping the lines of communication open for the four of us. Talk about funny.....I would talk to her daughter and the other mother would talk to DS.

We are talking 16 year old boy here with hormones raging. Girlfriend wants to make boyfriend happy. I tell girlfriend, he loves you and you don't have to make him happy and you have nothing to prove or you don't have to do anything....he loves you. Other mother is telling DS who knows what...something about girls reputations, respect, love, etc. Other mom and I talked all the time. I have never had another mother work so hard WITH me.

I was lucky....this mom was great. She could talk to DS and she would ask me to talk to her daughter since her daughter liked me alot and wouldn't talk to her mother. So we just teamed up. We (the other mother and I) found that we had a lot of the same opinions and morals. It was nice to have the other mother so involved. Most of the time I feel like it is just me out there battling. The kids are no longer together, which is really a good thing. Too many hormones, emotions and some self destructive attitudes going on. Her parents was going through a divorce and DS was trying to deal with ADHD and they were too serious for being so young. I absolutely loved this little girl but both of them needed to be older and more mature before they got that serious. I do hope that one day, YEARS from now, that they could get together again.....they were also great friends together. AND SHE LOVED CRAFTING!!! She was just the type of girl I would love for DS to marry.

Of course, DS has had some other girlfriends he wasn't as serious about, and I loved them too. Some of them I didn't care for as much, some I cared about more....but not really any terrible ones.

I remember being young and all that entailed, but I guess I was more naive than most. I just remember having some of these issues/choices when I was THAT young. Besides, I was always more pragmatic and headstrong. I knew what I wanted and went after it. I never really had a problem with peer pressure....I just didn't think that others' opinions mattered SO much as to compromise my ethics/morals/my compass in life.

Suzan, so glad this is over and what a relief to have this behind you. I don't have a daughter but my son was great as a teenager but his issues came later, we're still worrying about him and he is way way past the teen years.

Sorry Kim but I am with Phyllis on a similar situation!!!

Let's face it - once a parent, always a parent!! Kids mature at a different rate (never soon enough for me!!) and have their own issues at different times. Is it worth it? Of course. Is it frustrating and aggravating at times?? You bet!!

But we still love them - we just don't always like them.......

And I thought girls were so much easier to raise!!! At least you would get "girl time".

And I try to tell DS that no matter what, he is worth it and that I love him. Well, when I'm not ready to wring his neck for doing something stupid. But, yes, I am thankful for him, and yes, I want him to grow up and get a head on his shoulder. He's getting better.

I don't think Suzan would keep him very long...at least she is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm smack dab in the middle of the tunnel. Valerie seems to have her stuff together...she handled this situation so well. What a wonderful little lady she is. I am just thrilled that she has closure on this issue for now.

She posted the sweetest thing on Facebook last night, First thanking God for the past four years (makes me super proud), and for having us be there supporting and helping her thru it. It makes all those irritating things just disappear.

Yep....that's all it takes from one of our kids to make everything worthwhile...just a hug, a kiss, a smile or just a little appreciation from them.
