"No Shapes to Cut"

I'm just getting started with SB Professional and I've watched the startup videos. I've used SCAL years ago, but now have v.5 with the SB cutter. SCAL says "there are no shapes to cut" when I try a flower shape using the pen tool as suggested. HELP!?

Be sure you have it selected and not just sitting on the mat. And be sure it is placed within the "cutting range" of the machine.
