Laser movements

Laser movements

Postby Bikeracer » February 27th, 2020, 11:59 am

Is there any way of adjusting the amount the laser moves so that it moves in smaller increments than it does as standard at its smallest setting.
I rarely seem to get the laser on the registration dot exactly in the middle, it's usually just on one or the other edge of the dot.

Could it be tied in to the stepper motor movements and that is the smallest movement resolution it will do ?

If you are on a PC, press the shift and control down at the same time and it will move in tiny increments. That is covered in all of the print and cut info here on the forum and online. If you want larger increments, use just the shift key. Small increments, use the control button.
And even smaller increments, use shift and control together.

Hah yes, I am aware of how to move the laser in different increments, what I wondered was if there was any way of moving it in smaller increments than shift and control together.

No there isn't. I cannot imagine needing it to move in smaller increments as I find it very easy to get exact placement using shift and control. You can also watch the laser light when you are moving it to the registration mark as it will just about disappear or at least fade significantly when you are right over the dot.

Just wondering if my registration marks are too thick or too thin, I'm using 0.25 at the moment.

.25 mm? That is the size of mine. My laser light and registration mark are about the same size so you should totally be able to get the perfect alignment.

All I can say is I'm putting it down to having a "senior" moment.

I've now realised that I wasn't holding the shift key down with the control key.

Well now that makes a lot more sense! And we have all had those "senior moments". I honestly could not understand why you needed even more incremental movements - now I understand! :)

Glad you figured it out. I can guarantee holding down that control button will make you much happier - and give you MUCH more accurate cuts! :)
