font overlaps

Postby peredaa » July 19th, 2018, 11:49 am

hi,

I'm trying to cut using a font that's curly but I don't want the overlaps to be cut out.the letters overlap & I just want the outline to be cut. I'll post a picture of what I don't want.

thanks

If you just put the letters together and cut you will get the cut outs like you have pictured. You either want to weld the letters (you can click on preview to see if it is going to cut the way you want so you don't waste your material) or you can do Path>Union. Just select all of the letters and either hit weld which is in the tool box on the right, or use Path>Union which is in the upper left.

Hope that helps.

Gigi,

Thanks so much! Path>Union worked! Love easy fixes.

You are welcome. Either will work but Path>Union is a more permanent fix! :)

Glad you have it working the way you want it.
