I suggest you just pick a simple jpg that you like for starters, and follow the directions in the Learning Center to calibrate your machine if you have not done it already, trace the image and then cut it. I think you will be amazed at the accurate results and it gets easier the more you do it. I would probably do a picture that is framed in a square first just so it's easier to see if your calibration is off vertically or horizontally, but you can really use whatever interests you.

It's fun and can be addicting!

If you get stuck let us know. The more accurate you are with the calibration, the more accurate the print and cut will be!

I have looked at the tutorial on the Silver Bullet site along with others and I think I am really confused now. I am sure it is not as hard as it seems. This what I got from it.

I am going to get an image I want to print and place on virtual mat
Then I am going to make sure when it prints the registration marks show
Then I am going to go back and do a trace on the image I am using and place it over the printed image
Once I do this not sure what is next
Then after printing I am going to calibrate silver bullet
Then put the printed image on cutting mat align the registration marks and then cut?

Input please and thank you.

I think if you watch the tutorial a few more times it will make sense - and read all of the information as well.

If it were me, I would calibrate the machine first only because you need to do that accurately once. Save your calibration numbers if for any reason you lose them - saves having to recalibrate.

Open SCAL. Click Trace Image to bring the image into SCAL Trace it in blackout mode assuming you just want an outline. (Pick something simple and clearly defined for starters while you are learning). Check the "add image layer" box" so when you close the trace image box both the print image and traced image will appear. Click on cut and then the print and cut menu. Print. Place the paper in portrait mode (per the video) on the mat and into the machine as instructed in the learning center. Follow the prompts in the print and cut menu (after setting your origin) and after aligning the third registration mark it will cut.

If your calibration is accurate, your print and cut will be accurate. I would watch the video and stop it with each step, do what is suggested, and then keep going. It is much easier than it seems as it is a stepped process.

There are other ways to bring the image into SCAL, but I chose what seems to be the easiest one....... I typed this quickly so refer to the learning center if something I said seems off - those are the best instructions.
