Cutting Stencils

I am just getting started and I have not found where or how to do this.

Lets say i am making a painting stencil for a rest room that says "MENS".
Right now after I cut the stencil I need manually cut the excess material out from around the the letters, How do I get the SB to cut a box so that there is a two inch boarder all around the letters in such a way that I can just pick it up and use it?

You can just create a box from the shapes tab and put them around your letters - you might have to make 2 of them - like a frame... clear as mud I'm sure
