Writing on a shape

Writing on a shape

Postby tmgutierrez » February 6th, 2014, 10:59 am

Ok one of the newbies has a question. I attempted to cut out an oval shape and then wanted to write on it. I did finally succeed but pretty sure I did not do it the easiest way. I tried with layers placing the writing on the oval where I wanted it but that was a long process. I am sure someone has done this and can tell me an easy way to do it. You are all so helpful.

the way I do it:
1- make your virtual mat the same size as your paper
2- make your oval the size you want it on your virtual mat
3- place the words you would like in the oval
4- make the oval cut line invisible (close the eye)
5- put your pen tool on with the pen you would like to use to write with and set it at the bottom right corner of your paper
6- use WYSIWYG and write the words
7- remove the pen tool and reinsert the cutting tool/blade
8- turn the "wording" off /hide it and open your oval
9- still using WYSIWYG cut your oval out

That should work, if it doesn't we can try again, but this is the way I do mine. You just have to always remember to make your mat the same size as your paper and use WYSIWYG.

That's how I do it, too. Good thing Lisa beat me the punch, though, because her instructions are way better than mine! It goes pretty quickly once you practice a bit.

Great explanation! I wouldn't have done so great....I was just going to suggest doing the writing before the cutting. I forgot about all the other steps. LOL
